Ever dreamed of having your own private island getaway? Somewhere you can escape the crowds, relax in total luxury, and feel completely spoiled from the moment you arrive? Well, Little Peter Oasis is exactly that kind of place and the best part is it’s surprisingly accessible from the United States. This all inclusive private island comes with everything you could wish for your own slice of paradise, a dedicated staff ready to cater to your every need, a private chef cooking up incredible meals, and even your very own stunning blue hole to explore. If you’re looking for the ultimate escape where you can unwind, adventure, and be pampered all at once, keep reading because this hidden gem might just be your next dream destination.
Location and How To Get There
I like to think that reaching Little Peter Oasis is just a hop, skip, and a jump from paradise! If you’re not already in Belize, you’ll first fly into Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), which is super convenient thanks to its connections with numerous major airport hubs in the United States. That means there are always plenty of flights, and as long as you’re not flying during peak times, prices are usually pretty competitive — you can often snag a great deal.
From Belize City, you’ll head south to the Sittee River Marina where you’ll board a boat to the island. There are a few different ways to get there, but my personal favorite is catching a short 15-minute puddle-jumper flight to Dangriga with either Maya Air or Tropic Air. From Dangriga, it’s about a 45-minute drive to the marina.
Both Maya and Tropic offer similar fares, so it usually just comes down to which flight times best match your international arrival. That said, if you travel to Belize often, Tropic Air now has a frequent flyer program which is why I usually go with them. Gotta love racking up those miles for future island getaways!
I like to book my domestic flight at least 90 minutes after my international arrival to allow time for immigration, customs, and security. But in my experience, both airlines have been super accommodating if you arrive earlier or later than expected — they’ll usually get you on the next available flight without any fuss.

Ahead of your arrival, the team at Little Peter will send you a guest information sheet asking for your domestic flight details. On the day you arrive, they’ll meet you at Dangriga Airport and drive you to the marina. When we were on our way, we had to leave our previous hotel early due to checkout, so we arrived at the airport way ahead of schedule. I was totally prepared to hang out and wait, but Tropic Air kindly put us on a flight two hours earlier. We only had about fifteen minutes before that flight left, but the Tropic concierge called Little Peter, coordinated a new pickup, and — get this — they had someone ready for us with less than 30 minutes’ notice. I was seriously impressed and so grateful.
Another option for getting to the boat launch area is by road, either via shuttle or bus. It takes a few hours, and while it’s a beautiful drive, it does cut into your vacation time and isn’t that much cheaper than flying.
The third and definitely most extravagant way to get to the island? By helicopter. Yes, the island has its very own helipad. So if you’re feeling fancy and want to make a grand entrance, this is your ride.
Once you get to the Sittee River Marina in Hopkins, it’s about a 35-minute boat ride to the island. Usually, and I say usually, because our ride back was a whole different adventure — it’s a smooth and scenic trip to paradise. On sunny days, I definitely recommend sunscreen. The boat isn’t covered, and with the wind blowing, it feels cooler than it is, but the sun is still strong.

Check in Process
After being placed on an earlier flight to Dangriga, we were all prepared to wait at the airport for a couple of hours until our prearranged arrival time. But the staff at Little Peter Oasis dropped everything and came to pick us up at the small regional airport, and we barely had to wait more than five minutes. I was incredibly impressed. It was a first impression that set the standard for the entire trip, which, surprisingly, was exceeded at every moment during our stay at Little Peter Oasis.
We were met by Manny, who has been involved in just about everything at LPO. He helped build it and knows all the ins and outs of the island’s daily operations. On the drive to the marina, he asked us what we wanted for lunch. We put in an order for burgers (and a gluten-free version for me) which he said would be ready once we arrived on the island. He even stopped along the way to pick up a couple of waters for us before bringing us to the boat marina where we met Alvin, another member of the island staff. Our luggage was stowed, and we set off across the water toward paradise.

The short boat ride went by in no time, and soon we were stepping onto our private island. We were greeted by two more members of the team, Frederick and Henry, our private chef, who welcomed us with a cold towel and a refreshing drink. Manny gave us a quick tour of the island and it was immaculate, a true vision of paradise.
When I told people I’d be staying on a deserted private island, I got a mix of looks ranging from curiosity to disbelief. Honestly, even I wasn’t quite sure what to expect and part of me imagined a sort of Swiss Family Robinson setup. But I couldn’t have been more wrong. Every corner of the island is thoughtfully designed, perfectly manicured, and beautifully maintained.
As we passed the helipad we came across the tiki bar, which quickly became one of our favorite dining spots during our stay, and then continued on to the main event: the villa. Manny showed us around and explained how things work on the island.
I was happily surprised to find that the villa is equipped with Wi-Fi. You just have to be mindful of your data usage. It’s not the place to download entire seasons of your favorite show, but it’s perfect for checking emails, scrolling through social media, or downloading a movie here and there. The villa has electricity 24/7, and although the air conditioning is limited to an eight-hour window, the staff will happily schedule it for any time you prefer overnight.

Another thing to note, which makes total sense on such a remote island, is that hot water takes about 30 minutes to heat up. You’ll just need to plan ahead a bit if you’re in the mood for a hot shower. Honestly, it wasn’t a big deal at all, just one of those things you quickly get used to.
After our tour, Manny let us settle in. Not long after, Henry arrived with our lunch. He had even made me a gluten-free bun from mashed potatoes, and it was absolutely delicious.
The Villa
The villa is a two bedroom, two bathroom suite with a very spacious kitchen and living area, plus an expansive deck on multiple levels. It can house a maximum of four people, but if you’re traveling as a family or group of six, there’s a separate casita available for two additional guests.

Before your arrival, you’ll fill out a guest preference form where you can note any likes, dislikes, or requests for food, drinks, and snacks. We didn’t make any special requests, but still found the kitchen fully stocked with all kinds of treats like chips, popcorn, chocolate, and a generous selection of drinks including rum, vodka, wine, beers, sodas, and water.

The main kitchen area has everything you’d need. There’s a Keurig machine with K-Cups for coffee, a blender, microwave, oven, and all the necessary utensils, glassware, and plates. In the center, there’s a large island with swivel bar chairs and a cozy seating area facing a large smart TV. The TV comes with all the usual apps, though you’ll want to be mindful of WiFi usage. There’s also a DVD player with a solid selection of DVDs and a USB port, so you can bring your favorite shows or movies on a flash drive. While we didn’t spend much time watching TV, it was a nice way to relax after dinner.

Each of the two bedrooms has its own ceiling fan, standing fan, and individual air conditioning unit, plus doors that open to the outside deck. Both rooms have their own ensuite bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink.
The wraparound deck goes all around the villa with a seating area on the upper level where we loved having breakfast in the mornings when it wasn’t too windy. Down a set of stairs is a lower deck with four loungers and a step ladder that leads straight into the Blue Lagoon. The lagoon is huge, crystal clear, and so blue it could give the Blue Hole a run for its money. It’s deep too — Manny mentioned it was about 17 feet in the middle — so jumping in from the lower deck was totally safe and ridiculously fun. I spent hours doing just that, and my inner child was absolutely thrilled.

Food And Drink
Now this is where Little Peter Oasis really steps it up above your typical Airbnb. When you rent Little Peter, you get the entire island to yourself, and the experience is fully all-inclusive. That means all your food and drinks are included, with your very own private chef.

About a week before our visit, we were sent a guest profile form to fill out. It asked about our favorite foods and drinks, dietary preferences, allergies, and any special meal requests. We didn’t have too many specific requests, other than the fact that I’m gluten free for medical reasons (coeliac disease) and that we like tacos. But after chatting with the staff, it’s clear they can accommodate just about anything.

In terms of drinks, you also get to list your likes and dislikes on the same form, and they’ll stock accordingly. We just mentioned that we weren’t fans of whiskey, and sure enough, when we arrived there was a bottle of wine, vodka, and rum waiting for us, plus a fridge full of beers. If there’s something specific you want, definitely make sure to note it on the preference sheet. Henry even whipped up some absolutely insane mango margaritas during our stay that paired perfectly with our tacos. Honestly, we’re still dreaming about them.
On the drive to the marina, Manny casually asked what we’d like to eat when we arrived. I was really impressed by that, especially since we were getting there two hours early. I think we just said something simple like hamburgers, and even though I’m gluten free, he said they’d take care of it. Sure enough, when we got to the island, our private chef had made me my very own gluten free burger bun out of mashed potato. It was absolutely delicious and definitely set the tone for the rest of the trip.
After lunch, we met with Henry, our chef on the island, and he explained how things worked with food and drink. Basically, we’d chat with him about what we wanted for the next meal, what time we’d like to eat, and where on the island we wanted it served. We kept things pretty flexible and were happy to let him cook what he felt inspired to make, especially based on what had just been caught.

Some of my favorite dishes included the fresh conch ceviche served in a pineapple, three kinds of tacos, and a juicy pork chop dinner we had on our last night. That last dinner was extra special—it was my birthday, and the staff went above and beyond by setting up our dinner on the island’s dock so we could watch the sunset while we ate. It was absolutely magical and the perfect way to end the trip.

Another night, they even set up a bonfire and dining table so we could have dinner by the fire. They really do everything they can to make mealtimes feel special and memorable.

Breakfasts were also fantastic. Henry always coordinated with us to make sure we ate before our excursions. Even on the day we had to leave at 7am for a fishing trip, he had breakfast served in our villa by 6:15am. Henry was an exceptional chef, and we truly missed him when we left. Some of the best, most well-executed dishes we had in Belize came right from his kitchen.
Facilities
Just outside your villa, you’ll find plenty of water toys to enjoy during your stay on the island. When we visited in April 2025, they had just received a whole new set of Bote water toys, including fishing kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, water loungers, sling chairs, and a water hammock. During most of our stay, it was uncharacteristically windy, so we couldn’t use them until the last day. But when we finally did, taking them out into the mini blue lagoon was amazing. The lagoon is really deep, and I believe they said it was around 17 feet right off the dock near the overwater bungalow. The water was so incredibly blue, it almost didn’t seem real.
Activities
There’s no shortage of things to do during your stay at Little Peter Oasis. When you fill out your guest profile questionnaire, you can include your preferences for any tours or excursions you want to do while you’re there. Honestly, the possibilities are endless. Most of the time, you don’t even need to organize anything until you’re actually on the island because you have a full staff ready to help!
During our stay, we did two fishing and snorkeling excursions, both organized the day before. Because of the windy weather, they had to adjust the locations a bit, but honestly, your team are the experts. They know the best spots for whatever you want to do! On the fishing trips, the bigger fish we caught were prepared for dinner that evening and lunch the next day, and honestly, nothing tastes better than fresh catch straight from the water!

If you’re not into being on the water, there are plenty of other excursions and tours to choose from. Being so close to the mainland makes it even more accessible. Whether it’s exploring the Belizean jungle, the ATM caves, or the Mayan ruins, there really is something for everyone! If you’re itching to visit the northern cayes like San Pedro on Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker, I suggest tagging those on before or after your trip to LPO. It requires a domestic flight and will probably take up a whole day. But truly, the waters around Dangriga and LPO are so full of life that if I lived here, I’d never get tired of exploring these areas.
As mentioned, there are more than enough water toys to keep you entertained. Honestly, if I had more time, I would have loved nothing more than lounging on the overwater deck, watching the wildlife and waves roll in. While we were there, a nearby osprey nest with babies was our ultimate morning entertainment, watching the mama bird dive for food and bring it back for the little ones. There’s nothing quite like waking up to the sounds of waves and birds cooing right outside your window.

One thing LPO does exceptionally well is celebrate birthdays, special occasions, and events. Just communicate what you want with the staff, and they will handle the rest! When they found out I would be celebrating my birthday during our visit, they went all out to make the day special. They set up a private dinner at the end of the dock facing the sunset and told us to arrive 15 minutes early to enjoy the best view and experience. The menu was, of course, curated by our amazing private chef Henry, and it was delicious. We hadn’t put any special requests on our guest profile because we wanted Henry to cook what he loves and does best. Not saying he won’t accommodate your requests, but since I’m gluten free, I didn’t want to add to the “problem child” menagerie! The only thing we did mention liking was tacos, which we gratefully enjoyed on the second day in a trio of chicken, beef, and shrimp tacos, each with different salsas and accompaniments. Honestly, I’ll probably find it hard to go back to regular tacos after that!

What’s even more spectacular and honestly so convenient is that the staff gives you a walkie-talkie. No request is too big or small and will be answered in moments! You can use it to ask for things like a hot shower, since it takes about half an hour for the hot water to heat up and you have to notify the staff, where you want breakfast served, or what time you’d like the air conditioning on. Being a remote island, power is precious, and the fact that they have AC at all is a miracle. The AC only runs for eight hours a night, so you just let the staff know what time you want it scheduled. We’re early risers and chose 9 to 9:30 p.m. each night, which worked perfectly for us. The sun rose at 5:40 a.m., so we had the whole night with AC.
Service
The service we received at Little Peter Oasis was truly outstanding and the fact that you can book this as a vacation rental on Airbnb makes it even more extraordinary. From the correspondence we received weeks before our trip all the way through to our drop-off at the airport we were so well looked after.
Like I mentioned earlier when we were unexpectedly put on a flight two hours earlier the staff made everything happen within 15 minutes and we did not wait more than five minutes at the Dangriga airport. My dietary restrictions were more than accommodated. Our private chef Henry went above and beyond to create gluten-free alternatives that were not just simple substitutions but actually delicious and exciting.

The fact that they even thought about lunch on our ride over to the marina when we arrived early really shows their incredible attention to detail. They always checked in with us about how we were doing what we might want to do that afternoon or the next day and no request was too big or small. You have a whole staff just a button away for anything you need.
After every meal our chef would come chat with us about the next one including what time would work based on our planned activities where we wanted to eat and what we wanted on the menu. We felt utterly spoiled and honestly it was hard to come home and not have someone ask if we wanted fish or chicken tacos and if we wanted to eat on our own deck or in the tiki bar.
Closing Remarks
My career in travel has taken me to so many insane and out-of-this-world places but Little Peter Oasis is definitely one of the best spots I’ve ever stayed at. It rivals some of the overwater bungalows we’ve experienced in Bora Bora but comes with your own private island, your own “Blue Hole,” a dedicated staff on hand, a private chef, and ultimate seclusion.
When people ask me about bucket list places to stay this is hands down going on that list. Honestly if I could honeymoon again this would be the place. I can only dream about getting to enjoy this little piece of paradise once more.
