I have just got back from the ultimate vacation of a lifetime – Bora Bora; and let me tell you – it is nothing short of breath-taking. Unfortunately, the beauty, seclusion and isolation of this island is reflected in the price to visit this piece of paradise. Scrolling Pinterest and Instagram, you will be inundated with pictures of exquisite over the water bungalows beautifully positioned over crystal clear turquoise water, some of which costing thousands of dollars a night. But I’m going to let you in on the biggest travel hacking secret I’ve achieved to date – we didn’t pay a penny to stay in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora – and I’m going to tell you how we did it.Continue reading

Hotel Review: Takuma Boutik
Tulum in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula has had a lot of attention lately; and during the pandemic, it appeared that every blogger or influencer had hit this tourist spot at least once – and for good reason, it really is an instagram dream; there are hundreds of spots all over this cliquey town that are just made to be photographed, the reality of it is that everyone has the same idea and you will likely have to get up at sunrise if you want a chance to get a photograph at one of these iconic spots, which lets face it, is not ideal when you are meant to be on a relaxing vacation. And with this uptick in tourism to the area has become an increase in general cost – hotels and restaurants have been taken advantage of the elevated traffic to the area and their prices reflect that. Why go and fight the crowds when you can go off the beaten path to a more untouched area for half the price?
I had the privilege of staying at a relatively new boutique hotel in the Dominican Republic, aptly named Takuma Boutik Hotel. It is situated in a small diverse town called Las Terrenas in the Samana Peninsula.Continue reading
I would be lying if I said that DTHV was a recent discovery of mine. It has been on my ultimate travel bucket list since their pictures first graced the scene of instagram. It’s also been somewhat of a familiar childhood dream to sleep in a treehouse, an actual treehouse (and not one you make when you’re a kid in your backyard with a tarp and a couple of planks) not to mention one that’s in the MIDDLE OF THE JUNGLE. Needless to say, I was buzzing about just the thought of spending a night here, and not to give away the ending too much, but it did not disappoint.Continue reading

Where else can you go beach bar hopping by boat in a tropical archipelago? In this post I will outline our fun-filled trip, and hopefully by the end, I will have persuaded you to add it to your Must Do list on your next trip to the islands.Continue reading

The phrase ‘Mexico’s Riviera Maya’ might spark images to you of bustling Cancun or ultra hip and trendy Tulum, but I’m here to tell you about an incredible hidden gem known as Mayakoba, just 30 miles from Cancun international airport. It comprises four luxury resorts nestled in a unique network of canals lined by mangroves and opening out onto a sublime stretch of white sand beaches.
The three upscale resorts are Fairmont Mayakoba, Andaz Mayakoba, Rosewood Mayakoba and the Banyan Tree, and are in a private gated community
I had the unique opportunity to stay at the Fairmont Mayakoba this past September 2020, and I’m still in awe that such a unique property is present on the Riviera Maya coast and so close to Cancun.Continue reading
