Kuala Lumpur is full of incredible rooftop bars and hidden gems, and I’ve spent a few days hunting down the ones that truly stand out. From dizzying city views to secret terraces and cocktails that surprise you at every sip, these five bars are absolute must-visits if you’re looking for sunset vibes, late-night fun, or just a place to soak in the city with friends.
This was by far my favourite place to watch the sunset in all of Kuala Lumpur. It’s such a unique spot and the entire atmosphere is a vibe. Located on the top of the Menara KH building, the doormen at the entrance will direct you where to go, and once you reach the lower level of Helipad they’ll explain how everything works.

You have two options. You can pay a 100 MYR ticket per person which includes two drinks from a set menu, or you can buy a bottle of wine to share as a couple. Choosing the bottle actually removes the need to buy a ticket altogether. The cheapest bottle was around 250 MYR. We went for the 100 MYR ticket and headed up.
During the day it functions as a working helipad, but from 5pm onwards it transforms into a buzzing rooftop bar. If you make a reservation you can snag tables closer to the outer ring, but we walked in and still had an epic 360 view of the city and the perfect sunset. After our two included drinks we ordered a couple more from the regular menu, which is much more extensive and very reasonably priced given the location. There’s a DJ, table service, and an incredible atmosphere. It’s an amazing place to spend an evening watching the sunset with friends or family.
This secret bar is a fun little addition to the Chinatown area. It’s located above the Travel Hub Guesthouse and you enter through a very unassuming hostel entrance. You’ll climb the stairs to the hostel and then ask the staff for directions, at which point they’ll guide you up another staircase to the rooftop bar.
There’s a small outdoor terrace, but the indoor space still has a great vibe. They have an excellent cocktail menu with beautifully presented drinks, plus a really good food menu too. Portions are generous, so definitely arrive hungry.
Located on the 12th floor of the W Hotel, Wet Deck is modern, hip, and full of the charisma the W brand is known for. You’re right underneath the Petronas Towers here, which makes for some great photos at night when they’re all lit up.
There’s a pool in the centre of Wet Deck. While it closes at 7pm, it still looks dreamy in the evening with coloured lights and smoke effects setting the mood. The cocktail menu is experimental and exotic. I’m pretty sure this was the first time I’d ever had a drink with mango kombucha, so expect some interesting flavour combinations. It’s open late, so don’t hold back.
This stylish bar is located in the Menara 3 building, and I’m fairly certain we had to take three different lifts to get there. Don’t worry though, there are staff at each change point guiding you in the right direction.
This is arguably the best place to see the Petronas Towers at night. There’s an outdoor terrace with unobstructed views, and if you ask the bar staff they’ll happily bring out their camera light and take photos for you. They do this all the time and know the best angles. Some of my favourite photos from Malaysia were taken here. They also have a happy hour from 5–9pm with a great cocktail selection, plus bar bites that were perfect for fueling our bar hopping.
This bar was such a vibe. It’s technically more of a nightclub, but there’s plenty of seating and a solid bar menu, so us “oldies” could still enjoy it. It’s also located on the 51st floor of the Permata Sapura Tower and requires a couple of elevator changes, again with staff guiding you along the way.
The views of the Petronas Towers are excellent, there’s a fantastic DJ, and the whole space has a tropical Miami-style feel. The cocktail menu was great. We tried the cocktail of the month, a Pinkitini, and it was delicious. We also ordered food, which came out quickly and hit the spot late at night. My friend said the bathroom experience alone was something else, so make sure you pay the washrooms a visit too.
