Lina Point Resort Review, Belize

Tucked away on the lively yet stunning island of Ambergris Caye, Belize, Lina Point strikes the perfect balance between tranquility and convenience. Just a short golf cart ride north of town, it offers a peaceful escape while keeping you close to fantastic restaurants, bars, and attractions. The overwater bungalows, complete with private pools, are a surprising luxury you wouldn’t expect in Belize. With an on-site bar, restaurant, and a pool overlooking the lagoon, where you can spot endless wildlife right from your room, Lina Point truly is a hidden gem worth discovering!

Location and How To Get There

Lina Point is located on Ambergris Caye, one of the northern islands of Belize. To get there, you’ll first need to fly into Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. From there, you have two options to reach the island: by boat or plane. If you opt for air travel, you can choose between Tropic Air and Maya Island Air—both are similarly priced, so it really just comes down to whichever has the most convenient flight time. If you prefer the ferry, you’ll need to grab a taxi to the dock and purchase a ticket to Ambergris Caye; no need to book in advance, as tickets can be bought on-site.

Once you arrive, you can either arrange for a golf cart pickup through the hotel or rent one and drive yourself, which I highly recommend. Having a golf cart is the best way to explore the island at your own pace, plus taxis are limited near the hotel, so it’s a more convenient option if you plan to get around.

Check In Process

Finding Lina Point can be a bit tricky at first, as the turn-off is easy to miss. We actually drove right past it the first time! Be sure to plug it into your GPS, and keep an eye out for the Lina Point sign—it’s located at the end of the peninsula. Once you spot it, you can drive your golf cart straight onto the decked bridge and follow it all the way to reception. There’s plenty of parking near the front desk.

Check-in was a breeze—quick, easy, and efficient. After just a few minutes of signing paperwork, the manager guided us to our bungalow. Once there, they walked us through the room’s features before leaving us to settle in. I also appreciated the convenient parking right outside the bungalow for our golf cart!

Rooms

We were lucky enough to stay in one of the overwater cabanas with a private pool, and honestly, you wouldn’t have guessed it was in Belize—it felt so luxurious, and the price was an absolute steal! The open-plan kitchen and living area includes a kitchenette with everything you need to cook your own meals, plus a drinking water dispenser. Sliding glass doors lead out to the overwater balcony and pool, where you’ll find a hammock, swing, lounger, and seating area to enjoy the outdoor space. One of the coolest features is the glass-bottom floors in both the kitchen and bedroom, with lights underneath that illuminate the water at night so you can watch the fish and wildlife below. I spent so much time just gazing at the fish—it’s a really unique touch.

The bedroom is spacious with a huge bed in the center, a TV mounted above the sliding doors that lead to the balcony, and plenty of storage behind the bed for your clothes and valuables. There’s also an ironing board, air conditioning (which was super efficient and much appreciated during the humid season), and a standing fan, though we didn’t end up needing it.

The bathroom was well-equipped, featuring a hot shower (which got surprisingly hot—rare for remote islands), a toilet, sink, hair dryer, and—my favorite—hotel robes! If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’m a sucker for good hotel robes. They also provide complimentary soap, shampoo, and conditioner, which is always a nice touch.

Food and Drink

Lina Point has an on-site bar and restaurant, though they weren’t open during our stay. However, we got a sneak peek at their newly renovated space, which will be ready in the coming months. The current bar and restaurant are located in a prime spot by the pool in the main building, with plenty of seating, most of it over the water with gorgeous lagoon views. While I didn’t get to try the food and drinks myself, their menu looked pretty extensive, and the locals I spoke to who had eaten there all said it was fantastic!

Facilities

The pool in the main building is definitely one of the highlights of Lina Point, along with the overwater bungalows and stunning lagoon views. With multiple seating options and the on-site bar and restaurant nearby, it’s a great spot to relax. They also offer kayaks and stand-up paddleboards for guests to explore the lagoon, and while I didn’t get a chance to use them, I saw plenty of guests enjoying the water.

Another big plus is the property-wide WiFi, including in all the cabanas, which is great for someone like me who relies on a stable internet connection for work. During check-in, we were told there are a few routers to connect to, all with the same password. It worked out really well, as my devices would automatically switch to the strongest network if the connection got a bit spotty.

Activities

San Pedro is truly a paradise for water lovers, offering a wide range of activities both on and off the water. Whether you’re into snorkelling, fishing, parasailing, or even more adventurous activities like cave tubing or ziplining, the staff at Lina Point are happy to help organise any trip or excursion you want—whether it’s around Ambergris Caye or on the mainland. If you’re staying for more than a few days, I highly recommend taking a day trip to Caye Caulker, Ambergris Caye’s laid-back sister island where there are no cars and the motto is “go slow.” You can check out my full travel guide to Caye Caulker here.

For those looking to unwind, Lina Point also offers spa services, from Swedish massages to manicures and pedicures, all of which can be arranged during your stay.

Service

We had an amazing experience with the service at Lina Point. From check-in to check-out, we were really well taken care of! One day, we had a bit of trouble with a stiff lock, and when we mentioned it to the front desk, the manager showed up within minutes with some oil to fix it. It was great knowing he was just a WhatsApp message away after he introduced himself upon our arrival, which really added a personal touch to our stay. It’s these little things that make a big difference at smaller hotels. You definitely don’t get that kind of attention at chain high-rise hotels, which is why I always prefer to support locally-owned establishments.

Closing Remarks

I went into my stay at Lina Point with high expectations, and I’m happy to say they were more than exceeded! Where else can you enjoy an overwater cabana with a private pool at such an affordable price while still being close to all the local bars and restaurants? The cabana was incredibly well-equipped, even for longer stays, and the on-site bar and restaurant added to the convenience. The service was outstanding, even during low season with fewer guests. I would come back in a heartbeat—it truly is one of the most amazing hidden gems I’ve had the pleasure of staying at!
