Nestled in the sleepy town of Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, lies a beautiful and unique boutique hotel, where the jungle meets the beach – with private pool villas, an onsite restaurant and beachside food and beverage service, what’s not to love? Hotel Banana Azul is perfect for both the adrenaline junkie and the beach lover who likes to spend their days relaxing under palm trees listening to the sounds of the ocean waves crashing up on the shore.
Don’t know what to get your friend who’s always travelling? Or have a relative heading off on their honeymoon, and want to get something to make their flight a little more comfortable? Constantly reading blogs for travel inspiration? This post is for you! I have curated the ultimate guide for travel related gifts – updated frequently!
I’m not going to lie here, and say I just stumbled across this hotel by accident – in reality, I’d had La Fortuna Atitlan on my bucket list for years, ever since it graced the scenes of Instagram. And when I found availability for 5 consecutive nights in Deluxe Suite 5 (this bungalow is consistently booked out almost a year in advance – and for good reason!) I jumped at the chance and booked it! La Fortuna really is the sort of thing you’d read about in a fairytale – it is absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful – and my experience there completely exceeded my expectations.
I almost didn’t write this review in the hope it would remain a hidden gem and easier to find availability for next time, but my experience there blew me away so much that La Fortuna really deserves all the recognition, and some.
Public service announcement – you do not have to travel to the Maldives or Bora Bora to experience a luxury overwater villa – Nayara Bocas Del Toro is the newest and most exclusive boutique resort that is just a 3 hour flight from the United States.
Situated in the beautiful picturesque Bocas Del Toro archipelago in Panama, the hotel features just sixteen overwater bungalows that rival those in the Indian Ocean or French Polynesia, not to mention Nayara’s newest addition, the IKUBU treehouses, where you can live out your Robinson Crusoe childhood dreams, but in luxury.
The Ultimate Guide To Nicaragua’s Little Corn Island
If you’re unfamiliar with the Corn Islands, you’re not alone. I like to think of them as one of Central America’s hidden gems, and one that is less frequented by tourists, making them the perfect bucket list destination to enjoy miles of unspoilt white sand beaches without a tourist in sight!
I have just got back from the ultimate vacation of a lifetime – Bora Bora; and let me tell you – it is nothing short of breath-taking. Unfortunately, the beauty, seclusion and isolation of this island is reflected in the price to visit this piece of paradise. Scrolling Pinterest and Instagram, you will be inundated with pictures of exquisite over the water bungalows beautifully positioned over crystal clear turquoise water, some of which costing thousands of dollars a night. But I’m going to let you in on the biggest travel hacking secret I’ve achieved to date – we didn’t pay a penny to stay in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora – and I’m going to tell you how we did it.
Waco never fails to disappoint with a number of exciting attractions, a thriving cultural arts district, and an extensive list of contemporary bars and restaurants that entice visitors to return year after year. It’s no wonder that Waco is known as the “Heart of Texas”.
If you’ve never been to Waco before, then I hope this post inspires you to visit one of my absolute favourite places in Texas. With the vibe of a small town, but the cultural and eclectic diversity of a big city, Waco combines the best of best worlds, sprinkled with a generous helping of Southern hospitality.
Since the start of the pandemic and the emphasis on staycations, I have travelled extensively throughout our home state of Oklahoma, fur kids in tow and devised a list of my top 3 vacation rentals.
Tulum in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula has had a lot of attention lately; and during the pandemic, it appeared that every blogger or influencer had hit this tourist spot at least once – and for good reason, it really is an instagram dream; there are hundreds of spots all over this cliquey town that are just made to be photographed, the reality of it is that everyone has the same idea and you will likely have to get up at sunrise if you want a chance to get a photograph at one of these iconic spots, which lets face it, is not ideal when you are meant to be on a relaxing vacation. And with this uptick in tourism to the area has become an increase in general cost – hotels and restaurants have been taken advantage of the elevated traffic to the area and their prices reflect that. Why go and fight the crowds when you can go off the beaten path to a more untouched area for half the price?
I had the privilege of staying at a relatively new boutique hotel in the Dominican Republic, aptly named Takuma Boutik Hotel. It is situated in a small diverse town called Las Terrenas in the Samana Peninsula.
